Dorset Careers Hub Recognises The Crumbs Project’s Work to Promote Disability Confidence Amongst Employers

The Crumbs Project is awarded special recognition for dedication to being a Disability Confident Leader in Dorset. The charity strives to engage with more employers to offer work opportunities to adults with disabilities.

Commitment to Removing Barriers

The Crumbs Project has been actively involved in the Removing Barriers project, funded by The Careers and Enterprise Company. Delivered in partnership with Dorset Careers Hub and SendMe2Work, the aim of this initiative has been to enhance employment prospects for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Dorset. The project focuses on increasing the number of Disability Confident employers in the region.

Recognised Efforts

Both The Crumbs Project and Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth have been specially recognised for their commitment to achieving Disability Confident Leader status. These organisations emphasise the importance and benefits of becoming Disability Confident for employers.

Presentation of the Award

Andrea Murphy from SeeTec Pluss, a key provider of work and wellbeing services collaborating closely with Dorset Careers Hub, presented the award to The Crumbs Project.

Aiming for Greater Inclusion

Ursula Boardman, Head of Centre at The Crumbs Project, highlighted the charity’s mission:

“We believe in a world where people are helped to become equally valuable employees and become independent in their lives. We know more needs to be done to advocate for adults with disabilities in the workplace. As a Disability Confident Leader, we have the knowledge and experience to support other organisations to be more Disability Confident. We’re looking for work experience and job opportunities for our trainees in Food Production & Service, Housekeeping, and Administration. If you’re an employer in Dorset, large or small, and are interested in becoming more Disability Confident please contact us and join the great community we are part of.”

Supporting Employers

A special toolkit has been developed by Andrew Holland from SendMe2Work in partnership with Dorset Careers Hub to assist employers in becoming Disability Confident. This resource is available for free at Dorset Careers Hub.
