The CRUMBS Project (Crumbs) are pleased to share the success of trainee Gareth who has gained paid employment as a Digital Skills Assistant for our #PowerUp initiative to promote digital inclusion.

PowerUp is an initiative by Good Things Foundation with financial support from JP Morgan. Funding has been awarded to organisations that take a variety of approaches, tackle different areas of inclusion and work with different groups of people in their communities.

Crumbs promotes education and social inclusion of disadvantaged adults by providing vocational training and support to help them to be more independent and develop skills for employment. Our PowerUp project aims to support adults with disabilities through training to promote digital skills and is helping to drive economic and social inclusion in Dorset.

In his new role, Gareth will support Crumbs’ Digital Skills Trainer, Janet Miller, to deliver training in the use of digital equipment and tools for adults with disabilities or mental health issues, with specific focus on employment and improved financial health.

Gareth said:

“Being given opportunities at Crumbs to learn and try different things has really helped me to understand what I like to do and what I want for my future. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping other people and am excited to work alongside Janet in this new role”.

Ursula Boardman, Head of Centre at The CRUMBS Project said:

“Crumbs provide people with disabilities or mental health issues with a positive educational environment that is appropriate to their needs and supports them to develop vocational skills for work and more independent living. We’re thrilled to have supported Gareth through his learner journey into employment and are proud to welcome him to the team at such an exciting time for the charity’s work in Dorset”.
