In the UK, around 1 million people attend hospital every year following a head injury. Most of those are able to go home after treatment and there are no long term effects.

However, it has been estimated that there are over half a million people in the UK living with the long term effects of brain injury. These effects may not be obvious to anyone outside the immediate family, but they are none the less real.

Those suffering effects of long term brain injury may be aware of difficulties in doing things that used to be straightforward.
