CRUMBS currently work with HIT Training (Hospitality Industry Training) to deliver recognised vocational qualifications in hospitality services.

Here at CRUMBS we believe that HIT Apprenticeships are a smart choice for learners as their range of vocational qualifications are approved by the service sector industries, the Hospitality Academy and Awarding organisations.

Training at CRUMBS is also delivered using a preson centred programme of learning whereby each trainee is recognised as an individual and support is given exactly when and where needed.  All trainees are allocated a keyworker and the training programme is overseen by the CRUMBS Training Manager.  Regular reviews record progress and goal setting and outcomes around wellbeing are also important in tracking a trainees progress at CRUMBS.

Qualifications in Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety are offered to all trainees as well as units in various aspects of food and beverage services such as using the coffee machine, taking orders, preparing food and using the till.

CRUMBS trainees can also benefit from in-house IT sessions with the CRUMBS IT Tutor - trainees learn basic IT as well as how to use the worldwide web to expand and develop their knowledge and social networks.

CRUMBS trainees often stay up to two years and when they are ready to move on, or have completed the programme, they receive pre-employment support through CRUMBS Making Connections Project.

What is CRUMBS Making Connections Project?

Funded for 3 years (from 2010) by the Big Lottery Fund, Making Connections is the next stage of development of CRUMBS services to trainees on their road to independence.  This will be delivered in three strands:-

  • Introduction of a weekly Drop In Club
  • Working within the community and business community liaising with employers in providing work placements
  • Supporting trainees in job search, CV’s, interview techniques – supporting through job coaching when trainees are offered work trials, volunteering or employment opportunities

At the end of 2010 CRUMBS introduced its weekly Drop-In Club.  Here trainees discuss, learn and share. Trainees also receive 1:1 support with job search, job applications, CV's and employment advice.
