Bournemouth & Poole College student, Ashley Williams has recently participated in a three-week work experience placement at The Crumbs Project, Bournemouth.
Ashley who is currently studying a Level 3 qualification in IT at Bournemouth & Poole College Crumbs as an Administrative Assistant where he carried out a variety of duties; including shadowing Crumbs’ receptionist, answering the telephone, welcoming visitors, and general computer tasks.
Crumbs’ Receptionist, Annie Corbin, said; “This work experience placement has prepared Ashley for working in an office-based environment, which is what we aim to do at Crumbs to ensure there is a smooth transition from education to employment. Ashley has been given the opportunity to put his computer skills into practice and work alongside colleagues to gain familiarity with working in a busy office environment.”
Commenting on successfully completing his work experience placement, Ashley Williams said; “I had a really good experience at The Crumbs Project. It has helped me know what I need for the future in terms of professional conduct and career progression. The staff were really welcoming and approachable. I have learnt many new skills whilst being on placement and believe these are will be useful in future education or employment.”
Ursula Boardman, Training & Development Manager at The Crumbs Project, said; “Ashley has worked really hard during his three week work placement at The Crumbs Project. During his time he has had a glimpse of the inner workings of a general office environment. Although the tasks are not glamorous at times, Ashley worked to the best of his ability and was always polite and enthusiastic.”
